Sketchbook: Creatures of the Depths

The deep blue sea houses many different phantastical creatures. The blue-green colored mermaids and mermen, with their sharp spikes and claws, are widespread and are quick and ferocious when their habitat is threatened, releasing their sea-witches who are adept at crude, but powerful magic spells and whose terrible siren screams are feared by many. Their distant relatives, the sea-mages, keep to themselves and are noble and wise creatures, specialising in higher elitist magic. Their history, however, had its darker parts: They are responsible for creating the undead medusas, results of dangerous experiments reanimating their dead brethren.

The big and burly fishmen are hermaphrodite creatures who are amphibic by nature, residing on water and on land. They always withdraw to the mainland when the highly poisonous lionfishmen are pulling their rounds, contaminating anything that comes in their way with their long nettles.
